My main area of research is ubiquitous computing in general, with an interest in sensor data processing and artificial intelligence. Currently, I focus on context awareness and security: I try to combine both to create secure systems that are still usable by the "man on the street".

Since November 1, 2006, I hold a Marie Curie Fellowship at Lancaster University, which directly continues the line of research that I started as a Research Associate at Lancaster. Prior to this position, I was with the Johannes Kepler University of Linz, Austria, where I got my masters ("Dipl.-Ing.") and PhD (officially Doctor technicae - "Dr. techn.") degrees and was also giving student workshops accompanying the lectures for Algorithms and Data Structures 1 and 2.
