  • Fahim Kawsar (Lancaster University, UK)

    Fahim Kawsar is a PostDoc in the Embedded Interactive System group of Lancaster University,UK. He received his Ph.D. and M. Engg. at the Distributed Computing Lab of Waseda University in 2009 and 2006 respectively. His research interests evolve around ubiquitous computing with specific interest in smart object systems, human-centric system infrastructures and tangible interfaces. He has published in the areas of distributed middleware, smart objects, personalization, and physical interfaces. He was a recipient of 2006-08 Microsoft Research (Asia) fellowship.

  • Gerd Kortuem (Lancaster University, UK)

    Gerd Kortuem is a Senior Lecturer at the Computing Department at Lancaster University, UK and Director of the MSc Programme on 'E-Business and Innovation'. His research focuses on making the pervasive computing vision a reality, with a particular emphasis on software, interaction and business aspects. He has published in the areas of ubiquitous computing, wearable computing, mobile peer-to-peer computing, sensor networks, and mobile interfaces. Before joining Lancaster University he was running the engineering efforts of web startup LivingNetwoks.com. Prior to that he was developing software at Artifice Inc. (a small software firm in Oregon), Apple Computer in Cupertino, and IBM in Stuttgart. At Lancaster University he teaches software Innovation, software entrepreneurship, and ubiquitous computing. He holds a PhD. in Computer Science from University of Oregon and a Diplom in Informatik from Stuttgart University.

  • Kaori Fujinami (Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Japan)

    Kaori Fujinami is an associate professor in the department of computer, information and communication sciences at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. He received a MS in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Waseda University in 1995 and 2005, respectively. He has been working on context recognition and representation through the utilization of daily objects since 2002.

  • Jin Nakazawa (Keio University, Japan)

    Jin Nakazawa is a lecturer in the faculty of environment and information at Keio University. He received his MS and Ph.D in Media and Governance from Keio University in 2000 and 2003, respectively. He has been working on distributed systems, university interoperability systems and smart object frameworks since 2000.

  • Jong Hyuk Park (Kyungnam University, Korea)

    Jong Hyuk Park received his Ph.D. degree in Graduate School of Information Security from Korea University, Korea. Before September, 2007, Dr. Park had been a research scientist of R&D Institute, Hanwha S&C Co., Ltd., Korea. He is now a professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Kyungnam University, Korea. Dr. Park has published many research papers in international journals and conferences. Dr. Park has been served as Chairs, program committee or organizing committee chair for many international conferences and workshops. Dr. Park is the founder of International Conference on International Conference on Multimedia and Ubiquitous Engineering (MUE), International Conference on Intelligent Pervasive Computing (IPC), and International Symposium on Smart Home (SH). Dr. Park is editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Multimedia and Ubiquitous Engineering (IJMUE), the managing editor of the International Journal of Smart Home (IJSH), and Associate Editor of Security and Communication Networks (SCN). In addition, he has been served as a Guest Editor for international journals by some publishers: Oxford, Emerald, Hindawi, Springer, Elsevier, John Wiley, Inderscience, SERSC. Moreover, he is a member of the Task Force in the IEEE IUC. Dr. Park has won a Best Paper Award of the 2nd International Conference on Information Security and Assurance (ISA 2008).
